This is one of my favorite Meelo expressions.
Mike and I were having a conversation with my friend/former professor while his young son was crawling all over his back and head, slapping him in the face, tugging on his ears, etc. To our amazement, my friend calmly continued the conversation while simultaneously playfully wrestling with his rambunctious son. A year and a half later, when we were coming up with the Airbender kids, we thought he would be a fun, chaotic personality to throw in the mix and test Tenzin’s patience and fathering skills.
Ryu gravitated to this character right away and enthusiastically worked on his design. Mike and I originally envisioned Meelo as a cute kid, but Ryu insisted, “I want him to be ugly.” Ha! We pulled Ryu back a bit and ended up with the lumpy-headed kid we all love. (I have a bit of a Klingon ridge on the top of my skull, so I can personally relate his lumpy-headedness. Mike, on the other hand, as you all know, has a perfectly formed head.)

gah, they’re great.

Actually, the “door” in question is actually not a door at all!

If we turn this “door” clockwise we reveal…

…that it is actually a door frame!!

It is a piece of paneling from the doorframe in the First Class lounge based off a piece that was actually recovered:

This piece isn’t more than 3cm at maximum thickness!

In reality, if the panel in the movie was based off the actual panel,

It shouldn’t have held either of them afloat!!

Holy fuck

well damn…

Homestuck is a story about 4 young heroes who have fantastic powers, focusing mainly on the one who controls the winds. The 4 have to go on a quest to defeat the evil king, who is incredibly powerful - However for the most part the role the king would play is played by a lesser but more powerful noble. The group consists of 2 boys - the main one, controller of the winds, and the cool sword-user - and 2 girls - the smart, older seeming one with mother problems and the other one who sees things in a completely different way. This group is often helped out by a bunch of fantastic animals. Parallel to these 4 is another group who follow their every move, focusing on an individual who’s actually a good guy just incredibly angry and hateful about everything, always needing to feel as if he is the leader, who’s been banished from his homeland. his journey mirrors that of the wind-user, and though he struggles with his feelings and trust, he eventually ends up on the side of the 4 heroes, because despite large differences in their backgrounds they share many similar negative experiences. One of the strongest elements in the story is the idea of past selves - both the wind-user and the angry red one follow journeys that parallel the journeys of their ancestors - although, in a way, the wind user’s ancestors aren’t people he’s directly descended from. Another such element is the power of royalty, which acts only for undeniable evil with an insane leader, and which needs be challenged at any opportunity.

Everyone needs to see this ASAP. It’s not perfect, but holy shit is it close. I think this speaks to my love for both these things all too well.

I made a Kyoshi graphic a couple of days ago and a couple of people expressed the desire to watch a series about her and… I would love that too except let’s be real that filth would have to be on HBO

True story. However, it would probably be a hit, if GoT is any indication. ;)
